Now is the Time to Give Your Heart

Worship. What is worship to you? Who do you worship? Even if your mouth is closed and your hands aren’t raised and you don’t sway, you are still worshiping something. But here is the big question; whatever or whomever you worship, are they worthy of your praise?

Will money bring you peace or joy? Will a husband or wife forever satisfy your every need? What about the approval and acceptance of others; will they always like/love you? If they worship you, their praise is misplaced. Will drugs or alcohol make your family one unit again or will those things bring you hope for the future? Will pornography or another lover suddenly leave you satisfied and joyful, like your life finally means something? Will inflicting harm on yourself suddenly make you whole again?

The world worships death and things that lead to death. Too swiftly, pleasures fade away, and so do people. But why? Where does this concept of life come from? And who decided that life could end? If it were only up to One Man, then life would never end, and pain would have never been a thing. But that Man also chose to give free will to the dust He breathed to life. And it was the choice of dust to return to dust.

Jesus Christ was there in the beginning of the world, and He has always been, since before the world began. It was He Who breathed life into dust, and He called that life, Man, and He made him a living soul. And a piece of that living soul was taken to form the other half of Man, Woman… Jesus was the first one that both mankind and womankind lied to… We still lie today, saying that we don’t need God and that the things that fill our appetites are all we need. But those things leave us empty, dry, and longing for more. Jesus said, I AM the Bread of Life: he who comes to Me shall never hunger; and he who believes on Me shall never thirst. (John 6:35)

I realize that it’s late to be posting this, but I need this tonight and this coming day. I need the reminder that the only One worthy of my worship is Jesus Christ. He alone has earned my faith and deserves my praise, whether or not I ever receive a blessing from Him. I have already received the greatest blessing that I could never earn; being loved and saved by the One Who breathed life into me.

One day, I will return to dust, but this living soul will abide in the house of my LORD for all of eternity, because I have believed on the name of the only Begotten Son of God. So, for tonight, this coming day, and every day after that, I am here to worship the One Who made me and loves me.

When I worship, I surrender my dreams, hopes, and fears, and Jesus takes those humble things and infuses them with His love. My perceptions change when I have Christ as my focus, and so do my emotions. God is my strong tower; the steady hand that guides me. I worship Him. I serve Him. And I wait for Him to call me home. Amen.

Come, now is the time to worship.
Come, now is the time to give your heart.
Come, just as you are, to worship.
Come, just as you are, before your God.
Come.

One day every tongue will confess
You are God.
One day every knee will bow.
Still the greatest treasure remains for those
Who gladly choose you now.
