Give me an inspirational quote.
Give me encouragement, give me peace, and give me purpose.
I am waiting on you to give me what I want, so, when will you give me what I want?
Humans… we are such needy, selfish, grasping creatures. On a daily basis, we need inspiration and a sense of purpose just to take our next breath without hopeless pain. Humans are also very superficial. We want what looks nice and what “seems” right, but that thing that looks nice may, in fact, be poisonous to us, and what seems right may be killing us. I am not saying that inspirational quotes, words of encouragement, or a sense of purpose are bad things, but we should not look to those things to fuel our lives.
No matter how wonderful something or something is, nothing and no one on this planet is worthy of our worship, and it is not worth losing our soul just to gain someone or something.
If peace comes at the price of giving up your faith, then that is not a peace where both sides lay down their weapons, it is a peace where you must first kill yourself. And you can’t know peace if you’re dead.
If words meant to encourage you actually keep you from pursuing further excellence, then they merely fuel your pride. And a life full of pride is not a life at all; it is just a thief claiming that everything he owns is rightfully his. One day, all thieves will receive what is “rightfully” theirs, and there is no escape from that life.
If you feel like something or someone on this earth gives you purpose, then your purpose is temporal and has a price tag. In other words, you could be traded in for something or someone else, just as easily as you could trade something or someone in for something or someone else. It is a never-ending cycle of broken hearts and dying dreams.
If you trust in a consistent supply of inspiration, in signs that you are where you are supposed to be, then your hope will always be empty of substance, and no amount of well-organized words will lift you up to a height where you would have no fear of falling.
Every human soul needs to trust in Jesus, and our greatest purpose is to glorify His name. Therefore, our lives are not dependent on the approval of others, but on pursuing Christ and His glory.
There may be titles the world gives us, or that we give ourselves, but the greatest title we can have is son or daughter of the Living God, Jesus Christ. He will never trade us in just because our faith is small. Instead, Jesus remains faithful, always drawing us to Himself and teaching us what it truly means to live.
Instead of starting out the day asking the world, the internet, your family, or God, to give you inspiration, ask your Father to use you in whatever way He sees fit. If you never eat breakfast, then at least take time to read God’s Word and allow Him to fill you up with Himself. Before you go to bed, before you go to work, before you leave work, and at every time of day, seek Jesus and His will for your life. Yes, God’s Word will inspire you and His Holy Spirit within you will definitely give you strength and wisdom, but take time every day to worship the Giver above the gifts.
You don’t need to trade in what you have for something bigger or better. You don’t need the world to pat you on the back. And even all the things you have to do today or tomorrow can wait, because for right now, and for all of eternity, you need Jesus, because He alone is your courage, peace, purpose, and inspiration.
… So ends your inspirational post for the day. Now, go and live for Jesus.
